| The Cactus Carousel.
This curve is called the Cactus Carousel. It has an 80' radius and turns over 275 degrees up a 1.5%
grade. The view is looking up the grade. The cactus came
from a neighbor who didn't want them. I made a cactus garden up the
whole grade. Here I am shown planting one of the bigger ones.

Moving the cactus by train. One of my narrow gauge gondola cars was used to transport the cactus from my driveway. There were over 150 cactus and they all had to be dug up and moved. They came from the brown house in the upper right of the picture. It took several weeks to move and replant them all. |
| The Cactus Carousel.
Here's a view of the finished Cactus Carousel. As you can see some of the cactus were huge. A friend helped move the largest ones with a skip loader. |

The Cactus Carousel. This view is from the opposite side near the top of the grade looking down the right of way. |
| Right of Way Views.
This
is a view at the bottom of Pottery Hill looking south where the track
sweeps past the garage. You can just see the garage behind the
trees at the top right. |

Right of Way Views. This is another view of the right of way through the desert bushes. The near track is the Pottery Hill grade - the top of the hill is to the left - the view is north. The picture is compressed by the telephoto lens used to take the picture. |
