Many years ago as a rodeo brat I was introduced
to the Australian
Shepherd as it seemed that every outfit that pulled in usually had
a
"Little Blue Dog" in the back of the truck. Many days were
spent
playing with friends under the bleachers with those same "Little
Blue
Dogs" As a student in college, I was given the opportunity for
one of
my own little blue dogs to play under the bleachers with the "Kids".
I
vividly remember the invitation to my first dog show and the dare
that
followed. That dare came to me from the then owners of Talkook Kennels,
Joe and Jonna Cole, now owned solely by Jonna. I was told "I
dare you
to show that "ugly" little blue dog." I accepted that
dare and Sun'D
was Best of Breed Puppy that day. I was hooked. This was in 1975 and
I
then told the Coles that I would be at every dog show from here on
out,
so long as there wasn't a rodeo the same weekend.
In the many, many years since, not too much has
changed, except the fact
that the rodeos are no longer for Rick or I but for our five children.
We are now one of the outfits that pull in with one of those "little
blue dogs" (or Black, Red or Red merle)
What pride it gives us to be ambassadors for the Australian Shepherd
breed and to help educate those along our trail. Whether it be at
a
rodeo or a livestock show there is usually a dog included with the
Alexander Herd!
We at Mykinda Aussies believe in raising versatile
dogs that have the
"want" to do it all. We've had dogs that will work in every
venue that
ASCA provides. Emphasis is placed very high on temperament at Mykinda
Aussies, while not overlooking those genetic problems that are inherent
to the breed. Our puppies are raised with much socialization and
love. It is uncommon for a dog to leave us without much tear shed.
We
are blessed to have the best pets and even more blessed that they
are of
a quality to be able to take them anywhere and be proud to represent
the
Australian Shepherd Breed.
When in Southern Nevada, Please "look
